We went to the pumpkin patch about a week ago. Since I got a pic of all three girls smiling together (yes, a rare sight) I thought I would share.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy halloween!

    Time flys .....
Well, Tuesday we took Maddie in for her first official haircut. At 10 1/2 months we cut off almost 3 inches. She looks older (well, older for a 10 month old) with the short hair, but is still as cute as ever. At least now she does not have hair hanging in her face. She did really well, sitting thru most of it. About 1/2 way thru she was done sitting and wanted to walk around. I give all the credit in the world to the hairdresser for being very patient with her and cutting hair when she had the opportunity.

I'll try to get some before and after pics up soon.

    Time to play catch up
OK, so where am I .....
    1) Got a new Macbook Pro the day after the iPhones came out. I like it more and more every day, and am finding out it IS easier to use than a PC for certain functions.

    2) Taylor's season when pretty well. She qualified for Nationals by winning the Hayward tourney. Nationals were last week in Stockton. Out of 50 teams, she came in tied for 9th. They played very well, and most games (win or lose) were not more than 2 runs difference.

    3) Ashley's soccer team is still doing well at their play dates. The have another tourney this weekend.

    4) Maddie is getting bigger every day. She starting walking just before 9 months. Now, at 10+ months, she is "running" all over the house, has 5 teeth, recognizes who mommy, daddy, and tay tay are, and is on the verge of talking any time now. I cannot believe she is almost a year already.

So, I think that's it for now. Hope all is well with everyone.

I am very excited today. Tonight I get to see one of my favorite bands of all times, The Police, in concert.

And, to top it off, I have the next 3 days off work.

    Busy, busy weekend .....
So, Saturday we were in Sunnyvale all day for Taylor's softball tourney. We left home about 7:00am and got back about 8:00pm (I think). They played really well, but only ended up 1-2 for the day. Exciting moment of the day, Taylor hit a 2 run HR the first game! They don't have fences, but she hit it far enough in the outfield that she had to run the whole time. Between games on Saturday, my brother called me from the Goodguys car show in Pleasanton. He said there was a 1966 Chevy Wagon there in great shape for a really good deal. I told him I would think about it and talk to him later. Well, 4 phone calls, the evil eye from Brenda, and sight unseen (either my brother or Dad need to get with the times and get a camera phone) I told him to get it for me. I was anxious all day to go home and see what it actually looked like. I picked it up that night from my brother, and I was not disappointed.

Sunday I got up early with Brenda to get her, Ashley, and Maddie on their way to Sacramento. Since Taylor's game Sunday was not until 1:15pm, we had a little time. I ended up watching "Snakes on a Plane" while eating breakfast. One of the WORST movies I have ever sat through. I am into bad b-movies and all, but this one was way beyond bad. Anyway, we headed out to Sunnyvale about 11:00am. They played really well and ended up winning their first game. We moved on to the next game, and played very well but ended up losing in extra innings. They are getting better though, and I think by Hayward (the qualifier for Nationals) we should be ready.

Ashley had her soccer playdate in Sacramento. They won 2 and tied 1. They all had a good time, but said it was way too hot there and they were all beat by the time they got home.

I took Monday off. My dad and I replaced the carburetor on the wagon (the original had issues). While we didn't think it would take that long, it took the better part of the afternoon. But now it runs great, and I love it. Here is a pic:

Wait, where am I going again?
So, this is the first weekend that we will be going two different directions. Taylor has softball in Sunnyvale Saturday and Sunday, and Ashley has soccer in Sacramento on Sunday.

I also found out yesterday that Taylor's games on Saturday are 9am, 11am and 5pm. Ugh. That is a HUGE break between the 2nd and 3rd game. And considering that we have to be at the fields 1.5 hours early so they can warm up, it's going to make for a long day.

Sunday is going to be interesting. If Taylor's team does well, we will be there all day again. If not, I have to decide if I want to drive to Sacramento to watch Ashley play. I know she has a game later in the afternoon (like 4pm)so theoretically I could make that one if we get eliminated early on Sunday.

All I know if I will be driving a lot this weekend, but being able to see them both play makes it worth it.

I just hope this time I remember my camera. ; )

    First Soccer Play-Date
Ashley's first soccer play date was yesterday in Petaluma. We had to get everyone in the car by 530am (no easy feat with an 8 year old and a 7.5 months old).

The first game was rough. You could see the getting up early really got to then. They played a good game but lost. the team was a tough introduction to a higher level of soccer, but by the end of the game they were doing very well.

The second game looked much better. They played really well and ended up winning.

The third game was interesting. They played really well but got their first taste of crappy reffing. I believe they outplayed the other team, but they ended up losing that game as well.

Overall, I think they are going to be a really good team. They can definitely rise up and play with even the really good teams. Once they get used to a more aggressive style of play they will be able to compete.

I am disappointed in myself though. I forgot my camera.

    And away we go ......
So, both the girls made their respective high comp traveling teams. Taylor for softball and Ashley for soccer. I thought them playing across town from each other was tough. I had no idea. We have one weekend where Taylor plays in Sunnyvale and Ashley plays in Sacramento! This is going to be one interesting summer.

On a side note, I put pics from Taylor's softball season up if anyone is interested. Go to funkleberry.myphotoalbum.com to view them.

    A little bummed out .....
I know this is not THAT big of a deal, but we found out our neighbors are trying to sell their house. It sucks because they are REALLY nice people. the happen to be around mine and Brenda's age. And they just had a baby about 1 month after Maddie was born. We had joked about them growing up together and being best friends. they also would have Taylor and Ashley over to help bake cookies, and they were always good for a conversation in the driveway. We were talking about them moving and they said they made a list of reasons to move and reasons to stay. And aside from all the work they have done on the place, we (meaning my family) were one of the reasons they did not want to move.

He works in Mountain View and She works in Pleasanton, and their son is in daycare in Pleasanton as well. With traffic and all I don't blame them for wanting to move out that way.

I must say that I am going to miss them. And I just hope they when they do sell their place that a family as nice as them moves in.

    Here they come .....
Well, it's finally started. Just shy of 7 months and Maddie's first teeth are starting to come through. You can feel the bottom two poking through her gums as of yesterday. I thought she was drooling a lot before, boy was I wrong.

Also, here is the difference between what a mom dresses her adorable baby up in for easter (the pretty yellow dress) and what a dad thinks is a kick in the pants (the chicken outfit).

    Enjoy!

So no one is left out .....
I felt kind of guilty the other day. I always have/show pics of Maddie when I see friends and family and seem to forget to show pics of my two step-daughters. So, to keep things "fair" I thought I would show off my other two kids. ; )

Welcome to 3 months later .....
Well, I guess it's been a while. Not that anyone missed it. ; )

Let's see. Over the last 3 months what has happened. In a nutshell, Maddie is getting bigger every day, I have been at my job for 7 months now, I have not worked on my truck at all, I have been reported to HR for being a "tyrant", Ashley made the high comp soccer team for her age group, Taylor is going to try out for a traveling softball team, Brenda is a wonderful stay-at-home mom for them all, and me, well most of the time I have no idea what's going on.

Maddie went for her 6 month appointment today (which was what prompted this). She is 16lbs 12 oz, 26.5" long, and has a head that is 43.5cm around. All measurements are in the 75th percentile for her age. She is sitting up, crawling, and pulling up to a standing position now which is both very cool and very scary. We have gates up now to limit her access to certain areas of the house. The Dr even said today that developmentally she is on par with a 9 month old. I think she is too smart for her own good, which doesn't bode well for me in the long run. You can just see the wheels turning when she is trying to figure things out, and it doesn't take her long.

I took Taylor to a softball trainer the other day. He had apparently been asking some of the other parents in the league about her. He sees a lot of potential in her, and has even gone so far as to say she is "a scholarship waiting to happen." As long as she applies herself and has the grades, she should be able to write her own ticket. I hope she listens to him more than she listens to me, her mom, or her grandparents. He is an amazing coach. He changed three minor items in her swing and she was crushing the ball. Hopefully he can get her in for some more training sessions in the near future, I think it will do her a lot of good.

Anyway, that's kind of a little run down on what has been going on. Hopefully I will have the opportunity to make some more entries going forward. It's kind of difficult when the computer is in the babies room (which is why I posted this one from work).

    Nothing new and exciting .....
So, apparently my life is not as exciting as my friend Mark's. Nothing new has been going on around here. Maddie is getting bigger and bigger every day. He personality is coming thru, and honestly, she is going to be a little terror! ; )

Anyway, I finally posted some new Maddie pics on funkleberry.myphotoalbum.com if anyone is interested.

    Have a good one.

nothing much going on lately .....
Well, I nkow I haven't updated in a while, but there really has not been much different going on lately.

Maddie is doing great. Although her sleep habits need to improve, she is overall doing really well. She is a joy to be around and I look forward to being with her every day when I get home.

Work is work. At least I get a steady paycheck.

The family is doing well. No complaints.

Overall, things are pretty low key right now. To be honest, it's kinda nice.

    She's growing up .....

Well, Maddie will be 7 weeks old tomorrow (if I did the math right).  I can't believe it.  Bren went thru all her clothes to get rid of the newborn stuff she has already outgrown, and got al the 3 month stuff ready to go.  While it is sucks she is already outgrowing her new stuff (that she only wore once mind you), some of the 3-6 month stuff she gets to wear now is pretty cool.

Here's a pic or just some of the things to come ..... (Mark, I thought you might like this one!)
